Alex has tentatively reserved a place for the hackfest. He needs to know ASAP if he can go through with the reservation. The rough cost is:

For ten people (the number signed up at the moment):

Total:                                              955£

Exchange rate: 0.69£ to 1 US$                     $1383

This seems like a reasonable amount to me.
