It's stopping the current hiring process currently already stopped.
Yes, this makes no practical sense. But the hiring committee wants our
vote that says everyone can wrap up, do an announcement saying that
we've stopped and tell anyone asking that the status of this round of
hiring is stopped. It's a confidence vote.
