[Inkscape-board] maillist subscription

Hi all, I just subscribed myself to the inkscape-board maillist with my @alumnus mail address. But... no confirmation from an admin was needed. Is that working as intended? That anybody can sign up for this particular list? If so, then I guess I will have to communicate differently.
