Hi,
As most of you already know, our original venue for the Leeds hackfest fell through. Alex is looking for another venue which will probably not be free. What would be a reasonable amount to allocate for a venue? I've already suggested to Alex that a few hundred pounds would seem reasonable to me for a three day hackfest. What do you all think?

Bummer. I think that'd be reasonable, but I'm not sure it's possible. I think it comes down to the type of options available. At least in the US, if you can't find an educational institution you end up at commercial venues which are much more expensive. An option that I've used (in the US, not sure how it travels) for just a couple of folks was to reserve a work room in a library. Depends on the library though. Ted
Tav,
Sorry to hear about the venue. Let me know if any of my contacts in Liverpool are of use. (unless rooms have been booked of course)
I don't think it's too much of an issue to pay the extra money. It's really important that we have these meetings so it's fine to spend some money from my perspective.

You might make some informal inquiries just in case Alex can't find a suitable venue. But as Alex already has put in quite a bit of effort, I wouldn't want to change places unless really necessary. I assume, looking at a map, getting to Liverpool is about the same cost and time as getting to Leeds. We could also investigate if the LGM hosts could find us a place in London.
