Proposal for Hackfest in Portland, OR
Hi guys,
Attached is the proposal for a hackfest in Portland. Please review and let me know of any changes that should be made, or questions that need answered. In a couple days (depending on feedback) I'll post for a vote, and then make the appropriate reservation.
As mentioned at the meeting, if we want a hackfest in Oct/Nov there is availability for one unit or the other. It doesn't look like we could get both units until 2017, although if the proposal looks otherwise ok and if we definitely do want both units, we will contact the owners to see if there's any potential flexibility. If you have a strong opinion on dates please let me know.
Thanks, Bryce
Great proposal... seems like a great deal either way and both places look like they'd be incredibly hackfest friendly! I don't have any recommendations and the only question I had was answered in a provided link. Awesome work Harrington crew! :)
Cheers, Josh

Looks great!
The October dates would be difficult for me. The November/December dates are better.

The proposal looks very solid. I like the idea of conducting the event and the stay in the same place, it makes it easy.
We should do this for all hackfests!
There's only one flight from Boston that's non-stop, $450. But considering the alternative is touching New York, I'd rather pay the extra and keep my sanity.
I'm maybe maybe-not available for all dates at the moment. We're waiting to hear about schools and it's made my schedule 100% uncertain.

Great proposal! I think that the Nov. dates would be hard considering it's the weekend after Thanksgiving, it would also be a difficult time to travel in the states. Lots of traffic and connecting through Chicago or NYC is risky that time of year. I'm for Oct. if we think it'd be useful as a "release helper" sprint. I think that's a good place to put our energy right now. If not, I'd say go for the larger event in the Spring. Ted

Not that it matters too much, but weatherwise Oct in Portland will be a tad better than Nov.
On the other hand, Tav says Oct would be difficult for him (Tav: difficult as in 'impossible' or merely 'possible but inconvenient'?) Another advantage to Nov is that it gives an extra month of prep time for everyone.
It's a good point about the post-Thanksgiving air traffic, but our travels wouldn't actually be overlapping with it. So I'm not sure that the level of traffic would be to the point that it would be problematical for folks. However, you guys would be the ones flying not me, so your opinions matter more than mine here. Certainly, if anyone has Thanksgiving travel plans, turning around for another trip right after might be overly taxing.
