Travel funding request - Libre Graphics meeting in Madrid
Hi,
I will be going to the Libre Graphics meeting in Madrid next month to give two 20 minute presentations. The first is on all the exciting improvements we have sitting in trunk and the second on the SVG standardization process and how it can be influenced by open-source projects.
I would like to ask the board for help in funding my trip. The airfare will most likely be covered by the conference organizers (if they have raised enough cash) so I am asking for funding to cover the hotel and other incidentals. The hotel for three nights would be about 200 euros and other costs (train to/from airport, meals) another 100.
I had mentioned earlier that I would like funding to attend an SVG working group meeting this year. I have found that one can have a big impact when one is present in person. Unfortunately, it looks like that all three of this years meetings will be half-way around the world from me (Sydney, Tokyo, and Beijing). I am tempted to try to go to the Tokyo meeting. This would be a fairly expensive trip ($1000 for airfare, $500 for food/hotels) but I would probably be willing to contribute myself as it has been more than 10 years since I've been to Japan (I lived there for four years and made frequent visits for another four). I am interested in knowing the boards thoughts about support for such a trip.
BTW, did we fund anybody to go to SCALE?

I support us funding both the support for Tavmjong for LGM and a w3 meeting.
No, there was no support for funding anything for SCALE this year. Partially due to lack of a firm request as well as us not coming up with criteria for how much to fund for people. I'm now the Art Chair for SCALE, so my travel and hotel expenses were covered by the conference.
Cheers, Josh

We've reached a majority on this issue. I will give it another day or so in case the remaining board members have any concerns to raise, then will notify the conservancy.
