Hello board,
Is there an understanding, how many developers are going to attend LGM this year, and expenses of how many of them are going to be covered by the Inkscape organization?
We'd appreaciate if you could give us this information, so that we had a better understanding, where we are regarding finances.

I was hoping someone else would chime in with their thoughts, but personally I'm all for funding as many developers as possible.
Just to throw out some numbers for funding amounts, what if we offered to cover up to $500 of expenses (fees + travel + hotel + food + equipment) per person, for up to 10 people?

Hi Alexandre, I don't think we know how many Inkscape developers are going...

I plan on being there.
The idea of having a hacking session on animation doesn't seem to have gone anywhere.
And I don't know how many GSoC mentors might show up. After the initial limiting of Google support to students, it seems there might be a chance for some mentor support.

I'm afraid it doesn't help me to understand whether people who will end up attending will request reimbursements :)
@Martin, visiting LGM just to talk to a fellow developer of your own project is not the point of LGM :)

I've been to LGM before ;-) Would make the value of going higher though since we don't have inkscape hackfests, meetings etc.

I would love to see a large number of Inkscape developers being able to meet. My preference is that we support planning/hacking/working meetings. LGM could be a good place for this to happen. I have been told that there would be space for a hacking session before/after LGM at a hackerpspace in Leipzig. [http://sublab.org].
For just attending a meeting, I thinks we could offer developers partial support (subject to SFC policy on demonstrating a direct benefit to Inkscape). If the developer actively participates in the meeting (e.g. gives an Inkscape related talk) or in a hacking session then we could cover a larger amount. In the latter case, $500 is probably not enough. I am also not sure a $500 lump sum is the best policy. For example, I would prefer that we favor longer meetings so a per diem component would be desirable. I wonder what other groups do.
