Hackfest organization
Hi all, Making a new thread for hackfest discussion.
Short summary of what was discussed in other thread: - when? Coinciding with LGM 2015 Torronto seems a good option. Otherwise pick a few time frames and check people's availability. - how long? 2-3 days
I've added a brainstorm section to http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Hackfest2015 Please have a read and add your own thoughts.
cheers, Johan

That seems like a very well put together plan. I'm going to mull over the details and add in whatever way I can.
Thanks for helping get this sorted out.

We'll need a rough budget sketched out, if someone would like to take an initial stab.
Does anyone think we should consider hosting it in Toronto to be co-located with LGM, or do we have consensus on Boston?

When we do fundraising for this event, what would you guys think if we made one of the rewards for $xx contribution be an invitation to join us? (This would imply that we would limit invites to only current contributors or some such.)

That would be an interesting perk. And is interesting because one of the people I was talking to from BU asked about students being allowed to join in if interested.

I'm -1 on that, I think it implies that the event is somehow private or closed. I think it is better to present the event as open to all, with developers getting sponsored attendance.

Excellent starting point!
Along the lines of "simple repetitive refactoring or code cleanup", one thought might be to kickoff each day with a tutorial session. This could explain the refactoring steps or explain some new technology we're introducing.
