Your vote is needed to coordinate the Conservancy with sys-admins and rackspace to produce replacement mailing list infrastructure. This mailing list will provide us a mailman3 backend, mailman3 frontend, a forum that sits on top of the mailing list and migration from sourceforge.
The goal is for us to strike out and make this system ourselves and then invite other projects to share the machine with their own mailing lists.
Two Votes:
1. Ask the conservancy to provide a rackspace machine instance where mailman3 and it's front end can be run for our project AND other conservancy and Free Software projects.
[ ] a. Yes, allow the conservancy provide a mailman3 machine. [ ] b. Ask the FSF to host a mailman3 server instead. [ ] c. Do something else: ____________________________________ [ ] d. Do not set up a mailing list server.
2. Pay for Ian Dearheart (zenhack) to work on the mailman3 setup, providing initial setup, configuration AND migration from sourceforge. The cost of which will be $850 and be provisioned with one month of support after the completion of the working mailman migration.
[ ] a. Yes, pay Ian to set up the mailman3 system for us. [ ] b. No, I know someone who will do it for us cheaper. [ ] c. No, don't set up any mailman server.

Background:
The Inkscape project currently uses the sourceforge mailing list, that was used originally for all project hosting but that we've migrated entirely off of except for mail services. We considered changing to Launchpad for mailing list services, but felt it would be too limited.
The mailman3 system not only provides a much better interface for us, but also provides us with usable forums.

Just a note that Aurelien Bompard (abompard@...45...) -the upstream lead for Hyperkitty and a MM3 developer - has offered to help Ian if needed with the Mailman 3 setup should you choose to go with a MM3 deployment.
Cheers, ~m

My pleasure. I'm the UX lead so if you have UI stuff you want to happen in Hyperkitty too you know how to reach me :)

I'll join the majority and vote 1a, 2a as well.

Martin, please proceed with arranging the rackspace machine where we can install mailman3 and contract Ian to do the setup. We'll designate you the supervisor for the project and contact point with Conservancy, but let me know if you need assistance.
Thanks, Bryce
