I propose to remove it because it does not seem to serve a useful
function, and because it uses the absolutely technical term
"knotholder" which users have no idea about.

Indeed, I was noticing the same recently. I'm not a native speaker, but this word doesn't seam to be very meaningful.

I was also wondering about the "Visible" checkbox in the effect parameter. Isn't it useless considering there is an eye icon in the effect stack ? To my mind it unnecessarily adds something that is not a parameter into the parameter list.
