On Tuesday, June 8, Richard M. Stallman, founder of the GNU Project and Free Software Foundation, will give a speech in Lincoln Performance Hall at Portland State University: "The Free Software Movement and the GNU/Linux Operating System." He will discuss the purpose, goals, philosophy, methods, status, and future prospects of the GNU operating system, which in combination with the kernel Linux is now used by an estimated 17 to 20 million users world wide. There will be a question-and-answer session afterwards. The event begins at 7:00 PM, and will last approximately three hours. Lincoln Hall is located on the Portland State University Campus in Portland at the corner of Broadway and Market Streets.
