For me it's about brand footprint. Having vestages of the project flapping about on google is not great. The more we can reduce, then better the outcome.
There may be some other things we can do, checking the website for links to sourceforge for example. Checking links online that link to sourceforge/inkscape pages and asking them to be changed. That's something anyone here or on the users list could help with. Just search for the sourceforge inkscape page in quotes in google and contact any of the non-sourceforge pages to ask for an edit.
As for the file meta data. I got the created date/time stamps all in the rss feed files. So that should be fine.
