Supposedly, librsvg can be faster than libpng for a comparable image in many cases. So what type of savings are we talking here? Or is this another case of premature optimization? ;-)
They're being rendered by libnr not librsvg. The stroke-drawing code getting accessed hundreds or thousands of times during startup with a blank document.
