Simple interfaces are usually good, but too simply isn't. I'd definitely appreciate a Save Copy and/or Export (Vector) menu item too. I save the files I work on as Inkscape SVG, but when I want to distribute them for example I like to export them as plain SVG, this is currently possible but messes up things like the last directory I saved, the current filename, etc. It's workable, but clumsy.
Whether or not Export (Vector) and Save Copy should be separate is a different matter as far as I'm concerned and I don't feel strongly either way.
We might also eventually want an option for saving vector excerpts of the current file, too (like only the objects in the current selection and the gradients etc they depend on) but that's pretty much it.
That would definitely be useful, but not as a separate menu item if you ask me.
