The Ubuntu team is welcome to ship a patched version of Inkscape if this is their only issue. Seriously, I doubt something like this would stop them. Also, the Ubuntu guys have the flexibility to change the WM defaults -- what makes you think they won't do that? They already adjust them pretty significantly from the GNOME defaults.
