Open inkscape, open "document properties", check grid on, close "document properties" (optionnal), hit Ctrl-S. [CRASH]

I cannot reproduce this with current cvs.

I thought I saw this doc->priv->...assert triggered two days ago and fixed it then, that's why I said it's fixed. But if you're sure you have current cvs then I don't know zilch about it.
