Hi Bryn,
thanks for your reply.
It shows, I explained it not very well ...
I create a new layer, then I put a rectangle into it and want to make it sized like the page-dimension and aligned to it (0,0,max-x,max-y).
I never tried to change document properties for a layer ;-)
I just sad this, because this happens very often to me. I will not really call this "work", but creating a rectangle and set "edit/pase/doc-size" should make it completely fit and aligned - so, nearly one click ;-)
Hope, I was clear.
Thanks anyway, Manfred

Hi Manfred, I'm not clear what you're asking. If you place the object on a
new
layer, as long as it's inside the page border, that's all you need to do. You don't need to configure each new layer to fit the document size. It's automatically the right size, as long as the object is inside the page border. Or do you mean the object is a rectangle the same size as the
page?
For that, just use Edit menu > Duplicate. Or Edit menu > Copy, and Edit menu > Paste In Place. (Or appropriate key shortcuts.) Then move it to
the
new layer (Shift + PgUp or PgDn). If by "layer" you mean the z-order, then no need to move to a new layer. If that's not what you need, please try to clarify some more :-)
All best, brynn

Hello !
It's just, that I wish to push Inkscape even more .... Regard, I do not make something like "a request" ;-)
But:
There are many situations, where you just create a plain object in another layer, with the size of the document.
Why not re-use the menu: "/edit/paste/document-size" ??
Dont blame, me, if this exists probably on another place ...
Best regards,
Manfred
