Sorry, the bug is that the objects fill was semi opaque when I never set that value and could not reset the value without digging into the XML editor. Everything in the GUI said it should have been solid, when it wasn't.

Again, fill-opacity is the "A" slider in fill&stroke dialog. You might have dragged it accidentally.
