If you are usign the Merge Down function and you hit a Layer Group in the stack you are stopped dead. No attempt is made to move into the group and merge the next layer, no prompt is given offering to merge the whole group or just the next layer. The workflow stops, dead end.
Interesting, thanks. Of course we must treat layers the same on any level. Merge Down should always merge the next sibling into the current layer, and Merge Children should merge all children of the current one up to their parent. I think these two commands are sufficient for everything one might want to do.
