Looking for something else I just passed cross this on Apple's site: Inkscape is marked as staff pick by Apple currently.
[...] i saw this on their web site:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/unix_open_source/inkscape.html
"Note: On start-up, it will take a couple of minutes before the main window appears (while the application builds the font cache.)"
...a couple of minutes? are you serious? i don't use a mac but is this what some of you go through?
The text there is quite scarce and not very well formulated:
About Inkscape A vector graphics editor (SVG format) featuring transparency, gradients, node editing, pattern fills, PNG export, and more. Aiming for capabilities similar to Illustrator, CorelDraw, Visio, etc.
Note: On start-up, it will take a couple of minutes before the main window appears (while the application builds the font cache.)
I tried to re-submit Inkscape as an Apple download, with updated information and a new screenshot but it is only at the end of this process that I realized that this would submit Inkscape under my name and developer ID. They will probably discard my request anyway, since Inkscape is already there, but it would be nice to know: - who subscripted as Apple Developers under the name "Inkscape developers" and hence posted Inkscape for the first time? - could this person update the information on the site. I can provide the information I wrote (taken from the front page an release notes), so it'll just be copy-paste, and here is my screenshot: http://jo.irisson.free.fr/dropbox/inkscape/inkscape.png
