Hi Harsh, I'm not a developer myself, so I can't offer you any personal advice. But while you're waiting for developers to respond, I thought I would point you to the Inkscape website, where you can find a lot of info about Inkscape and developing Inkscape.
Specifically the Contribute and Develop menus will be helpful if you want to contribute code, but you might find any of it interesting :-)
