Hi Tobias, Make sure your editing the right version of markers.svg, you'll have 2 copies if your working from a CVS build, one in the checked out CVS copys inkscape\share dir and one where ever the share is for the installed executable. You need to edit the second one. Theres a rough and ready tutorial on making makers in share/tutorials called making_markers.svg that explains how to do it, the UI for creating markers is something we need to do, its on our todo list :)
markers.svg is meant to be the default application libary for all docs, we perhaps need to think about what the best way to allow user expansion of this is, although I wouldn't want to have to be extracting them from too many places.
Just realised c/p doesnt work on lines with markers, guess that needs fixing too.
keep the feedback coming :)

Hi,
how can I add new marker to inkscape? I found the markers.svg and copied the last "<marker>..</marker>" and changed the "id" and the "inkscape:stockid". But it doesn't work. Can I do that without recompiling?
One file for all Markers is not very user friendly because you can't share easily new markers with other users.
