Anyway, I hope I'm on the right track with the patches. I do have or had cvs access, but I've been away from c++ for a long time and figured I'd go the patch route so that a second set of eyes on the patches. inkscape compiled and seemed to work properly for me after the changes.
Great! Thanks very much for doing this. I'll try to get some time this weekend to look it over and commit it. This'll give us more motivation to keep the janitor page filled with stuff to do. :)
