(I know of UberConverter, but PDF is the most important interchange format so we should better support it natively)
The PrintingConsensusPoll has not seen much progress the last half year.. (you've lost a few links there, btw. It's PDF_Bugs, PDF_Test_Cases, and PDF_Tools)
Yes, the condition for moving forward on it was to get 20 people to list themselves in the poll, but we only got 17. I think it was an interesting approach to solving the problem, but in practice it failed to get the level of participation expected.
It does go to show there is not as much interest in PDF as expected. The lack of a plan was I think the major stick point there was a lot of support otherwise. I do think there is a good chance Cairo and Poppler will improve and provide the PDF infrastucture we really want. This short term setback might work out for the best in the long run and avoid redundant work.
Perhaps the workarounds are good enough for the determined few.
From scribus we know there is an audience who do care very much about PDF
but I guess SVG is good enough for most inkscape users where the drawing is the desired end result.
