The previous issue was related to Apple's version of glibtoolize, replacing with fink's copy fixes the ranlib issue.
Now however, I have a more interesting note. I got the damn thing compiled!

You can see that some of the icons appear to be loading in a corrupted fashion. This could be related to my cvs checkout ( done anon ) or perhaps the files needed for these icons simply aren't present. I can't say for sure.
The other problem is that it appears as though our code base suffers from the same font problem that sodipodi did. Pogma at #fink on freenode.net says there is a patch available, but as I'm not really qualified for such business, I figured we could get someone to apply the necessary change? If I'm wrong, may I be flogged for thinking so.
