I know that in the past (back with just Sodipodi) some people were working on hooking them together for some workflow. Then it had come up again on Jabber with us.
I think that's the same general issue. How best to get things to "play nice" between all apps, in a way that serves both different user types and different companies is the key. Maximizing win-win is the main thing to look at.
Right off hand the apps I can think of are Xara, Inkscape, The GIMP, Cinelerra and CinePaint.
