GitHub only allows a rather small subset of file types as attachments.
Important for Inkscape: SVG files are *not* allowed, as well as HTML, CSS and JavaScript files, videos and archives except ZIP.

This is the main reason for keeping issue tracking on launchpad for the time being in my opinion, just move the code and see how it works. Not being able to upload SVG files so they can be used for debugging is a big problem...everyone would have to zip the images and then upload, an annoying extra step.
