Hi
I cannot keep my mouth shut anymore about this. It is probably some problem with my system if nobody else has noticed it ( I could not find anything similar in the buglist ).
I am using WinXP (Home) and have always had this same problem with Inkscape, right from the first release. It has thus been unusable for me at work ( I have it on a linux box at home and it works fine there ). The most recent build I have is Bob Jamison's windows build called Inkscape 0.37-20040210. I have several of the GNU libraries installed in PATH, but none that I know of in system32.
The thing is that if I use the freehand tool ( or any other tool than the predefined shapes ), as soon as I release the mouse button the shape literally goes haywire, that is, it becomes a big spindly mess.
I set up four jpegs to show this effect. Here's one showing drawing with the freehand tool ( http://www.hi.is/~akig/inkscape1.jpg ) And here's after I release the mouse button ( http://www.hi.is/~akig/inkscape2.jpg ) Here's one showing a star *after* I've released the mouse button ( http://www.hi.is/~akig/inkscape3.jpg ) And here's what happens if I convert it to a shape... ( http://www.hi.is/~akig/inkscape4.jpg )
:(
Hope this is just me and nothing serious...
Best regards
Áki
