
Updated my on canvas dynamics editor mockup of how perhaps to edit various settings. It's basically a rearrangeable stack of "filters" to apply to objects, meant for any setting that can be mapped via an adjustment of a scalar value (one dimensional number), meaning perhaps one color from a gradient strip, line width, scale, etc. Special handling for sampling stroke or fill. It would be entertaining to be able to tie controls to custom filters too!
Single click on a node to simply select, and use normal color dialogs to set, double click on a node to bring up the stack editor.

Although work still needs to be done, especially concerning on- canvas dynamics, I doubt on-canvas dynamics editing will be implemented anytime soon, first because Inkscape is currently more focused on clean-up, second because the tiling tool itself isn't likely that high priority, third because even then, many other features need to be coded first before reaching that particular feature...
