[Inkscape-devel] Regarding variable thickness lines

hi,

I am new to inkscape development . I'm not sure I have all the definitions perfectly clear, but I'll try to explain my query as well as I can. Is this functionality already exist in inkspace i.e to create a line of variable width which would allow us drawing curves but where each node could have its width set so that the line width changed from node to node.

I've also tried a couple of other vector graphics programs, such as Illustrator and Xara but this functionality doesn't exist.
