Ah, and here I thought it was 2007 or something. Silly me.
I would really like to see cooperating programs define workflows that automatically update when the source data changes rather than the export, import, redefine dance.
In the short term, simple 3D operations in inkscape will work, but I think it wants to be a 2D tool.

Paper is 2d. Designers and illustrators have been constructing
drawings from 3d grids, boxes and spheres since ages.
