Well, thanks Peter, you did it more seriously that i did :)
FYI, you're right, "vive" is my translation for "live shape"
Creationlibre.org is also one of my site but others are related to the commercial team we're building with yemanja and pierremarc (scribus, fontmatrix)
Thanks again to all the team for all the pleasure they gave me with Inkscape. I'm sure it will go on. And we might meet again at LGM :)

Please write me in English about highlights of the book for news at inkscape.org ;-)
Here's my (no doubt slightly wrong) translation from the website blurb (which is unfortunately a little gushing; they do want to sell copies of the book, after all):
Vector graphics for everyone
Inkscape is the reference free software vector drawing program. Under Linux, Windows or MacOS X, it offers a broad array of functionalty that rivals that of Adobe Illustrator. Easy to use, compatible with many formats (PostScript, EPS, JPEG, PNG, Bitmap and TIFF), [Hmm, PDF is missing from that list] it's the ideal tool for the graphics professional and amateur alike. Liberate your drawings with Inkscape. Master the different tools to draw and combine live shapes. [Not sure if "formes vives" was a reference to the "liveness" (editability) of Inkscape shapes compared to illustrator, or whether it describes the artistic: striking, figuratively full of life.] Sketch with bézier curves and manipulate their nodes and control points. Apply colours from a colour palette, create a gradient and modify transparency. Optimize your workflow with clones, layers, grids and guides. Incorporate photos into your drawings, and apply effects, simulate 3D objects with simple shapes or with perspective guides. [Sorry, I'm not an artist and haven't used Inkscape's perspective stuff, and I don't know how to translate "avec des aides à la perspective"] Prepare your documents for printing, discover SVG.
Author's Biography
Member of Creationlibre, [I don't know if this is a reference to http://www.creationlibre.fr/ or http://www.creationlibre.org/, though I believe they're related] Cédric Gémy is a graphics designer and educator. Having previously taught how to use the Adobe tools, he today works exclusively with Free Software. For several years, he was the author of the official documentation for Inkscape and was among the first contributors to the project. He is the author of "Gimp efficace" ("Effective (Efficient?) Gimp Use"), from the same publisher.
