LGM are used to having hackfests associated
with them, and one of their goals is connecting graphics
software users with developers. Maybe we could contact LGM
organizers directly and see what they say. Apparently they have
spaces of various sizes and are looking into other locations.
Maybe they could set aside one small room for the hackfest
throughout the conference, and we might schedule more than one
Inkscape workshop in that room if there is enough interest and
enough space. Not as a disturbance to the hackfest, but it might
be a cool factor for visitors to learn about the app, and see how
it's being produced at the same time (young audience).

It may be too early to count the possible attendees but Inkscape
1.0 (preview) might be reason enough to shoot higher, maybe we get
a bigger space too :)

We have been thinking of doing a hackfest prior to or after LGM, however to do so we'd need to have a venue to meet at, ideally someplace in Saarbruecken (or possibly even the same place[1] as the LGM conf). Does anyone have a place to propose? If so, we can try and nail things down at the next board meeting. We'll need a volunteer to get in contact with the venue and make the arrangements. If we don't have a separate Hackfest venue identified by the board meeting, what we'll do instead is still sponsor attendance at LGM, but won't have a separate hackfest. Attendees can arrange to meet ad hoc for discussions as fits their schedules during the conference as they wish. For this, we need someone in the role of event coordinator. If you're available and interested (or might potentially), please let me know. http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Hackfest2019_Saarbr%C3%BCcken The duties of the event coordinator is to make sure we have a venue for the meeting, recruits attendees, and provides travel-related information (e.g. hotel and dining suggestions).
