Should we have a link to w3schools on our site? I've heard so much bad things about it that I refrain from linking to it myself though the bad stuff might be history as of today, I very rarely end up there myself. The most valid point I have heard is that they don't keep the site up to date with new versions of different technologies and current "best practice" is not something that is discussed on that website. Although, I'm not a user of it myself so this is not first hand experience. -- Christoffer Holmstedt

My suggestion would be: "Because SVG is Inkscape's central format, understanding the basics of SVG can be helpful when contributing to Inkscape's development."
