I like it :) However, I would remove 'inkscape' to make it more generic. Maybe add a little color?
I must agree, Text in an icon is not generally a good idea.
The icon does have the advantage of looking quite simliar to those used by Adobe Illustrator (although there is some reserve snobbery and some wont like it for the same reason).
The 16x16 size is unusable, it would be better to have a different simpler icon for that size.
