Again: I do not claim that links are useless, or that less than 50% of people ever use links. We can play with words but the fact remains that a new user expects the document to be self-contained. In other words, if you don't know what you want, you most certainly don't want a link, because your document will break as soon as you move files around or send it to someone else. If you want a link, you should say that you want a link.
