sorry for not answering fast. When I developed this patch I was only an inkscape user with a special need and who didnt think of doing it using templates. If it is concensus that the patch is more confusing than helpful, I guess that it could be reverted and ignored.

The patch may not have turned into something really useful, but at least, it was this patch that gave me access to svn so that it enabled me to start working more actively on the filter effects.
