*Update:* I did a *vagrant reload* and that seemed to make the trick: the */home/vagrant/inkscape* folder in the VM is now mirroring my host file system, and a.t.m. my cpu fan is running at 100% because Inkscape is compiling inside the VM! Yey :)

Will keep you posted, this might be the tipping point where I actually start contributing as a developer to Inkscape, and not "only" a user/tester+reporter of bugs ...
