Hi all,
Today was the final day for the mentors to give input for the Google Summer of Code projects.
Google is funding 400 projects this summer, including four projects for Inkscape. The decision for how many slots to give each project was based on the proportion of submissions sent in for each project. Approximately 50 people submitted proposals for Inkscape. There were over 10,000 proposals submitted in total, for 40 projects.
Google will be making the final decision of which projects will be selected, based on our prioritizations. The prioritization was extremely difficult (I wish we could have had 8 or 10 projects), but thanks to the work of the reviewers I think Inkscape will gain four very significant new features over the summer.
