Ever since we started talking about switching from CVS to SVN, I've made something of a project of trying out all the various available Open Source SCMs. At this point, in order of preference, I'd rate them roughly:
- git
- Darcs
- mercurial
- Subversion
- Arch/bzr
- monotone
- svk
- CVS
Darcs, Arch, and bzr are the only SCMs I've not actively maintained a project in yet.
I've been using bazaar with various Ubuntu things. It is still slow, but being improved. I've been impressed with its merge capabilities, but I'm not a significant user of git, so I'm not sure I can make a reasonable comparison. :)
