I have been looking in to buying a cutter to reverse engineer the command set to pass on to the Inkscape developers. Perhaps we could also buy one as a prize for the SVG game contest.
I need help selecting a good model.
Roland and Graphtec seem to be common names.
They are all pretty pricey, even the Robo craft is $329 U.S
I downloaded a Roland user manual and I called for help. The specifications are vague. It is easy to find the cutting size and downforce but what about resolution of cuts?
What models should we steer clear of?
Can I forward this thread to the user list? It does not seem to be of exclusive interest to the developers, is it?

wow! vinyl cutter sounds like a great 1st prize. How much does one of these cost? I even consider not only paying part of the prize but also buying one of these to me :-)
Also, my girlfriend suggested that we add gameplay and code quality as criteria for the classification of submissions.
