It works for me. Are you moving the mouse pointer itself very close to the node you want to snap to? Because only a small part of the guide will snap, i.e. only that part of the guide that is within snap range from the pointer. BTW, although I've coded this myself, I'm not sure if I like this behaviour. It does give more control however, and an RFE was filed for this.

With respect to the guideline snapping: You've convinced me,  I will make it always snap to bboxes, with snapping to nodes remaining optional.

It's both :-). I'll once again modify the label!

So we have the way it's done now (main options on tab 1 vs. specialized options on tab 2), your proposal (snapping toggle + what snaps on tab 1 vs. targets on tab 2), or a third option of which I didn't think before: snapping bboxes on tab 1 vs. snapping nodes on tab 2. But as I'm not a fan of this latter option myself I will not start a discussion about it ;-). Instead I'll try to implement your proposal somewhere in the next few months and we'll see where that will lead us.
