Hi inkscapers, I think there are some logistic problems with website translation.
Probably yesterday I missed that a new entry about mac .dmg was added to download-en, so only today i realized that -it was outdated.
This is a little example, but problem and outdating can get bigger and worse in a bigger time-frame. I think that after a new release, under more pressure, we would experience problem with localized section being completely out of sync or partially missing.
So I'm asking to all developers to follow a simply uploading policy to keep the site updated and complete for all languages:
- When you add a new section to an english page (like this in
download-en.inc) please copy'n'paste the same english section to related localised pages (i.e. download-it, -fr, -de, -es)
- If you commit minor or cosmetic change (a broken link or similar),
please apply the same patch to other languages, or at least drop a mail to translators about it.
Following these simple hints, you will make translators' work simplier :)
Comments, suggestions and critics are welcome.
I don't think this approach is going to scale, since it becomes a significant amount of cut-and-paste work as the number of translations increases.
