Dear Inkscapers,
I greatly welcomed that Summer of Code is going to happen this year again, since I would like to participate this time.
I would like to develop a tool for automatic kerning -- this should adjust the position of the letters in a text to correct the spacing irregularities, to ease the reading flow and to improve readability. This is also called optical kerning. To me, this is very helpful feature and I can imagine it could be of use for other open source software as well.
Unfortunately, this is not listed on your Project Ideas page.
What do you think? Would such a thing make sense for Inkscape and in the same time applicable for Summer of Code?
Thanks a lot for any feedback and good night!

Hi Juraj,
Yes, we're quite open to ideas beyond what's listed. In your proposal make sure to explain the need, and include links to Inkscape feature requests where possible.
Thanks, Bryce
