Dear Brynn/Others,

It is not just about the logo and instruction material. We want to customize inkscape for school kids.

Our software XCLASS is used in primary schools,P1 to P6(students aged between 6 to 12). Since the current inkscape software is advance level for these kids, we want to introduce to them step by step for each year.

Each primary year, they can learn few topics in inkscape. Like to begin with basic shapes, then tracing, then layering and extracting and so on. As they go to higher classes, we can increase the level of tracing, calligraphy, designing and so on.

If anyone is interested to develop this kind of project, please inbox me so that we can discuss in detail and take it forward.

Pavi and others,

I think this is a great opportunity to address the sometimes hostile UX of Inkscape. (They way I learned Inkscape was through daily "struggle" in combination with the Inkscape Book, but I was a (technically educated) adult when I learned that.)

I would like to add to the discussion that there has been som recent development during the summer if i remember correctly, to 'extract' the menus/icons from the code base, and into configuration files, making it easier to do precisely the stuff Pavi suggests - introduce features piecewise...

For example, Pavis software house could develop a menu+icon set called be "P1.config", another "P2.config" and so on, adding features step-by-step.

What would be needed, is good documentation of how to do such configration. Or one of the devs that knows how, could teach Pavis company as a consultant. Maybe a couple of days turotialing would be enough?

Thanks,

Pavi

Also as per my understanding, you will have to specify the source code of the program for free online, i.e. you have to give proper attirubtion to inkscape and well. I request other sound professionals to step in for the legal aspects since I am just a newbie.

I thought all you wanted was a logo and instructional material.

Maybe you should say specifically what you want, rather than generalities?  From
my point of view, adding Inkscape to your products will enhance the value, even
if it's not changed at all.

Although I think Martin's suggest was for you to make the changes that you need
(with guidance from the Inkscape community); if developers were to provide you a
quote, they would need to know every detail about what you want.

All best,
brynn

Dear Brynn,

We want to add inkscape to our software so it may enhance the value of our
software.
Just creating the instruction material would be of no use to our business
growth.

Thanks,
Pavi

On the other hand, I was just thinking.  As a community, I think we are aware
that Inkscape is probably lacking in instructional material - especially from
the beginner level on up.

If SunTech is offering to pay us to create such instructional material, and as
long as we would be free to make it available to all Inkscape users as well,
maybe it would be worth considering the offer?

All best,
brynn

Actually the original was junked by gmail for me.

Dear Pavi,

I think the idea of an Inkscape for Kids is a really good idea. I would like to
invite Sun Tech Group to consider developing such a modification in the public
under a generic name without specific branding (which can be added in later for
your own distribution). This I suggest because it would involve the greatest
reduction in cost for maintaining such a fork for your business.

This is a project that we could help you develop in the right way. Let us know
in reply.

In addition to compliance to the GPL (https://inkscape.org/en/about/lic
ense/
), you must also comply with the Inkscape trademark usage policy (
https://inkscape.org/en/about/branding/) in whatever production you end up
doing. If you have any issues, let us know as soon as possible any questions or
concerns and we can clarify the rules.

Good luck!

Best Regards, Martin Owens
