As it happens I'm compiling cairo on mingw, and I've found a problem in aclocal.float.m4. These lines...
if strings - conftest | grep seesnoon >/dev/null ; then
...fail because on windows you get conftest.exe instead of conftest. Any suggestions for a workaround? something that keeps the detection functionality working.

Hey all,
For those who don't sub to the cairo list, cairo 1.14 has been released which has the downscaling we need available for 0.91.
So, any Windows devs want to see about building it and testing for the devlibs?
The sooner we can can get on this, the better...
