The old native dialogs were dropped simply because no one could maintain them. We didn't have as many developers back then and almost no Windows developers. So, to succeed this time, it is kinda required that you not only make the patch but also maintain it for at least some time, fixing bugs and regressions etc. Also, in any case, I think we need to build a consensus first among Windows users and developers on whether this change is indeed desirable (considering the lack of preview and bookmarks).
