Hi,
I believe that I'm experiencing the bug described here (https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/418242). I'm finally sick enough of it to try to get it fixed. I want to start by mailing the list to find out what's going on, if it'll get fixed by some other development, etc. first.

I haven't tried this as I don't like messing about with stuff managed by the package manager.
I have some experience with C, a lot more with Python. Where do I start?
