I have downloaded and installed yesterday Inkscape 0.43 (MacOS X version). It launches fine, but if I try to open a SVG file, either created with the former version of Inkscape or with Adobe Illustrator, I get an error message saying: "Failed to load the requested file /Users/hf/..." although the file preview is displayed properly in the open dialog.
Hi, I am having the same problem on OS X 10.4.3, and haven't been able to figure out the problem.
I sent an email to the inkscape-devel list; the error inkscape returns is:
(inkscape-bin:822): libgnomevfs-CRITICAL **: gnome_vfs_uri_is_local: assertion `uri != NULL' failed
After much time and frustration I managed to track down the cause of this problem. It has been fixed in Inkscape-0.43-2.dmg. The updated package can be downloaded from this page: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/inkscape/Inkscape-0.43-2.dmg?download
