So, can anyone respond please? Who is doing any development on openclipart.org?
I also looked into the problem of importing PNGs where SVGs are available. I can code around it in Inkscape, but it would be much better to fix this on the openclipart side. It now returns in its rss feed, for example:
<enclosure url="http://openclipart.org/people/johnny_automatic/johnny_automatic_press_stamping_fenders.png" length="46203" type="image/png"></enclosure>
which is what Inkscape uses for loading the file. It needs to refer to the SVG file where it's available instead.
